Rockdale boys qualify for first state

The Rockdale boys cross country team qualified for its first ever state cross country meet last Saturday thanks to a third place finish in the Region 2-AAAAAA meet.

The Bulldogs finished with 53 points, behind second-placed Newton with 38 and region champions Druid Hills with 30.

Making the All-Region team, finishing in the top 10, for the Bulldogs were Patrick Massie and Tyree Newton. Massie finished fourth in a time of 17:15 and Newton seventh in a time of 17:48.4. Other finishers for the Bulldogs were Alex Mann in 11th (18:05.7), Clifton Casurra, 14th (18:19.8), Logan Hull 16th (18:45.2) and Jonathan Butler in 17th.

The Rockdale girls’ team also qualified for state, including ninth grader Antwonette Thomas. Thomas was runner up in the Region 2-AAAAAA meet as the Lady Bulldogs finished in second place.
