Operation Sandbox is calling all patriots for an event to support the troops that’s guaranteed to be a good time.

The Operation Sandbox Ride for the Troops and Classic Car Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, registration starting at 9 a.m. at the Stone Mountain Harley Davidson in Conyers, 900 Dogwood Drive SE. It's $20 per bike or car and $10 per passenger.

Operation Sandbox sends care packages to troops serving overseas and has reached over 80,000 servicemen and servicewomen. The day’s events will raise funds to allow Operation Sandbox to buy and send materials for the care packages.

"With our troops going into Afghanistan, we are sending not only snacks and hygiene items, we’re also sending small refrigerators, coffeepots, heaters, basically anything they need to give them a little touch of home," said Director Virginia Pearson.

The action-packed day includes a motorcycle ride, car show hosted by the Social Kruizers, special guest speakers live music by the Archmen band, Elvis and Johnny Cash impersonators, raffle prizes and more.

The ride itself will be video taped to send in care packages to the troops. The Army Band will also be on hand to provide stirring music, and a Blackhawk helicopter will be on display.
