Local Relay for Life committee members are in the planning phase and are encouraging residents to attend a few upcoming meetings to learn how they can participate in next year's event.

The next meeting for new participants is 6:45 p.m. Nov. 14 at Rockdale Career Academy. Those who can not make that meeting should plan to attend the Dec. 3 meeting at 6:45 p.m., also held at RCA.

Committee member Kate Fincher said the committee is particularly looking to recruit new teams to participate in Relay.

"We would also like to invite survivors, caregivers, and anyone else who would like to share their opinions and even help with the events planning for the 2014 Relay for Life," Fincher said.

Rockdale County Relay for Life is slated for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 26, 2014 at the Old Maxell building on Parker Road.
