The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office carried out 24-hour warrant roundup ending Tuesday that netted 23 suspects, some with active warrants.

Beginning on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 23, deputies with the RCSO went to known addresses for suspects with outstanding warrants in attempts to locate and arrest them. While the RCSO seeks out suspects with warrants on a daily basis, this more concentrated effort teamed up deputies from various divisions within the RCSO to more effectively locate and arrest those suspects with warrants.

In total, 23 suspects were arrested in the 24 hour period. Most of the warrants were for Failure to Appear and Probation Violation, some of which stemmed from original felony charges.

Sheriff Eric Levett said, “This is just the first of many warrant roundups as part of a new effort by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to get criminals off the streets.”

The public is asked to let the RCSO know about the whereabouts of anyone that has an active warrant in Rockdale County by calling Capt. Mike Ransom in the Warrants & Civil Division at 770-278-8005 or by submitting the information at www.rockdalesheriff.com under the "Contact Us" section.
