Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies Josef Rowe and Chris Speyrer recently graduated from the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Law Enforcement Academy. The 17-week basic mandate law enforcement program includes 744 hours of classroom and tactical training. Graduates completing this program earn 42 credits toward an associate’s degree in criminal justice. As mandated by state law, all police officers in Georgia must complete this training in order to earn certification through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, or POST.
