Third place winners

The Rockdale County Public Schools Social Studies Fair, held Feb. 19 at Rockdale Career Academy, saw more than 50 students enter 46 projects exploring questions on social, economic, cultural and scientific issues in the world around them.

The Best in Fair winners were: Sarah Burkey, DMS, “In the black: How does Black Friday affect the economy?”; Sydney Phillips, DMS, “What is the hidden cost of the cellphone in your pocket? “Conflict over minerals in the Congo”; Sophie Mosley, DMS, “Does prison reform inmates?”;  Noah Crafts, MMS, “Civil Rights in China”; Jacqueline Gomez, MMS, “Women’s Rights.”

First-place winners were: (From MMS) Sydney Campbell, Zora Duncan, Abigail Gayden, CJ Hardnett, Dexter Oden and Chandler Thomas, Asiah McWhorter and Tyler Bates, Jeremy Lee and Matthew York, Faith Shamley, Yasin Siddique, Imani Williams, and Max Kaiser and Cameron Bennett; (from DMS) Amaya Roberson; and (from RCHS) Benjamin Smart.

Second-place winners were: Nathan Sapp (EMS), Ashley Jackson (MMS), Mallorie Smith (EMS), first place winner Syndney Campbell (MMS), Kendal Hill (DMS), Emma Sirmans (MMS), Najifa Hossain (MMS), Sarah Taphom (MMS)  

Third place winners were: (From Conyers Middle School) Chalandrea Banks, Tralynn Barber, Myah Barlow, Aniya Drammeh, McKenzie Gray, Timerra Rooks and Jahnyaa Scott, Tianaa Turner; (From Edwards Middle School) Myah Barlow, Tiara Dempsey, Aisha Lee-Fajobi, Cameron Risk, Zachary Roberts, Catherine Browder and Bridgette Ruark, Cionne Gates; (From Memorial Middle School) Payton Lovett, Enya McDaniels, Tiara Mitchell, Ashlyn Williams; (From Davis Middle School) Kristin McPhearson; (From Heritage High School) Emily Howe.
