Rockdale County Public Schools announced it would be closed today because of the approaching winter weather, which is predicted to affect areas north of Lagrange and Eatonton.

RCPS spokesperson Cindy Ball said in a recorded message that went out at 5 a.m., "Due to the approaching winter storm, we are going to close school today for all students and staff."

RCPS schools are closed for the winter holiday Feb. 15 - Feb. 19.

The National Weather Service at Peachtree City predicted 1-2 inches of snow in areas north of Lagrange to Eaton to Washington by the time the snow ends on Friday evening.
