Rockdale County Public Schools will again hold an Enrichment Camp for students in grades 2-8 at the Rockdale Career Academy during the week of February intercession, Feb. 16 - 19 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Rockdale County students can spend the week solving crimes with the CSI class or learning about Bavarian culture as they study Germany during the annual Enrichment Camp.

RCPS invited over 2,000 students to attend the camp, including all students who had met the standards for the previous semester. Middle school students have the opportunity to learn about digital photography, and elementary students will take one of five courses.

During the camp, second-graders will learn about Bavarian culture and history by studying the food, literature, and traditional crafts such as the cuckoo clock; third-graders will go on a Polar adventure, learning about life in Alaska and making their own penguin or whale; fourth-graders will delve into the world of crime, learning how to solve a mystery by analyzing fingerprints and handwriting, making teeth impressions, and much more; and fifth-graders will be Exploring Art through Mixed Mediums, exploring the various mediums of art through hands-on experience. Additionally, in conjunction with Rockdale Career Academy and Edwards Middle School, fourth and fifth grade students will learn about the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) while designing crazy and fun vehicles out of recycled materials.

Middle school students may take Digital Photography, where they will create original works of light graffiti and melting self-portraits.

The cost for the camp is $50 per student.

The program is open to homeschool and private school students who are Rockdale County residents and can provide evidence of meeting the standards in all classes last school year. Payment, in the form of cash only, is accepted at the RCPS Office of Teaching and Learning at 1121 West Avenue in Conyers between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. through February 10th. Additionally, parents may choose to register and pay online using the web address below:
