The Race Against Violence 5K Run/Walk, held Oct. 26, was able to raise enough funds to donate $10,000 -- twice the donation given last year -- to the Project ReNeWal domestic violence shelter for women and children, the only domestic violence shelter serving Rockdale, Newton and Walton counties. Rockdale’s Family Violence Task Force Chair and State Court Judge Nancy Bills presented Project ReNeWal Director Vickie Stevenson with a check on Dec. 16.

"This gift represents the tremendous effort by Judge Bills and the Task Force in not only in raising money but addressing the issue of family violence in all aspects," said Stevenson.

Next year's RAV 5K run/walk will be held Oct. 25 in conjunction with the Olde Town Fall Festival.
