Police are searching for five armed robbery suspects accused of ambushing two Rue 21 employees as they left work Wednesday night.
According to the Conyers Police Department, the victims had their cars and possessions stolen in the Iris Drive parking of the store around 11:15pm. The victims, a 24 year old male and an 18-year-old female, reported a champagne-colored Jeep with five black male passengers was idling at a stop sign near the Carmike Theater as they walked to their cars. The male victim stated the Jeep drove toward him a high rate of speed and abruptly stopped before a man wearing a goblin mask held a gun to his head and demanded the victim sit on the curb. He then took the victims bag containing $400 cash, his cell phone and his car before driving off.
At the same time, the female victim reported that she was sitting in her car and texting on her cell phone while she was waiting for her car to heat up when a man wearing a bandana over his face opened the door and demanded she exit her car. The suspect then took her purse and cell phone and drove off in her car.
The victims said they then ran to Carmike Cinemas and contacted the police.
As of Friday police had not located the dark greay 2008 Pontiac G6 or the black 2008 Chevroley Impala stolen from the victims.
One suspects was described as a black male, approximately 5'09', 160 pounds and wearing a black hooded jacket, jeans and multi-colored shoes. The victims said both men had a medium build and appeared to be young.
Police searched the area immediately following the incident but were unable to locate either of the stolen cars or a vehicle matching the suspects' vehicle.
