ATLANTA (AP) - The parents of two high school football players who died after collapsing during practice drills in the heat say they plan to sue school or county officials.
Attorney Ben Crump says the parents of D.J. Searcy on Monday sent a letter to county commissioners in Ben Hill County, Ga., notifying them of their intent to sue. Searcy fell to the ground during an endurance test last August at a football camp in Columbia County, Fla., and died about 90 minutes later.
Crump says the mother of Isaiah Laurencin notified the Broward County School Board in Florida of her intent to sue. Laurencin collapsed during practice last July at Miramar High School and died hours later.
The parents say the high school coaches' negligence led to their sons' deaths.
