Local college students and recent college graduates have an opportunity to gain public service experience through a local internship.

The Rockdale County Tax Commissioner's office is now accepting applications for a new internship program, LAUNCH or "Leadership Achievement Using New Collegians at Home." The paid internship, which runs 10 weeks, provides students the opportunity to develop workplace and leadership skills while serving the residents of Rockdale.

Tax Commissioner RJ Hadley said, "I look forward to giving our Rockdale college students and recent graduates an opportunity to apply their hard work, talent and skills here at home. Involving our college youth in the workings of local government tax collection will make them better citizens and better prepared to become community leaders."

LAUNCH Interns will provide support to the Rockdale County Tax Commissioner's Office and assistance to the Tax Commissioner during engagements in the community. Responsibilities include executing general office duties, assisting with events, developing initiatives, and providing other support as needed.

Current college students and recent graduates are eligible to participate. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 1. Preference will be given to Rockdale County applicants. For details and to apply, visit www.georgiacountyinternships.org.
