Out of the Darkness

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and on Thursday, May 10, Rockdale County Public Schools will host an event called "Out of the Darkness: A Parent Forum on Childhood & Adolescent Depression & Anxiety."

RCPS Support Services and the STARS Community Partnership have come together to provide parents with a resource in dealing with mental health issues that may be affecting their own children.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Rockdale Career Academy. A 30-minute presentation by Keith Fallon, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist, will be followed by a panel discussion in which parents, guardians, and caregivers can ask specific questions of experts.

Panelists include Susan Chapman, Ph.D., RCPS Lead School Psychologist, April Fallon, MSW, LCSW, CSSW-S, RCPS Director Community & Student Support, Adenise Henry-Simmons, MSW, LCSW, owner and director of Academy for Family Empowerment

This important program will provide parents with information about childhood/adolescent depression and anxiety, including risk factors, warning signs and supports.
