Three years ago Rockdale County officials brought in Dr. Samuel King to turn its school system around; so far he is exceeding expectations.

Rockdale County-Conyers is also fortunate to have one of the best youth organizations in the country located here.
The Barksdale Boys and Girls Club located in Conyers has provided a helping hand and a safe haven for our local children for the past 32 years.

The Boys and Girls Club does not turn kids away because their families are having a tough time economically. The club has a well trained staff that provides after school and summer programs that channel youthful energy into challenging and life saving programs.

Just like every non-profit in these times, the Boys and Girls Club is struggling to raise the money to accomplish its goals. They have already slashed and cut expenses out of their management staff in order to save money to keep the programs going for the children.

On Aug. 15 the club will hold its 26th annual fund raiser, "Super Saturday night Returns to Conyers." It will be a night of dancing and food from around the world, not to mention a great wine bar.

We know that the citizens of Rockdale County are proud of their Boys and Girls Club. We need to support this club. It is vital to our very future that our children have a place of safety where they can prosper and grow.
