In last week's newspaper, there was a welcome back column from new school Superintendant Richard Autry.
We think it was well written and to the point. Among his statements, he encouraged parents and community members to become engaged in education and our schools.
We could not agree with the superintendant more.
A community is measured by how it treats its children. We can throw all the money we want at our educational system, but unless we have a united effort made by the community and parents above all, we will not continue to progress as a community.
In fact, if we don't work together to ensure that we have a school system that gives our children the tools to succeed in an ever changing world of technology, our community will stagnate and wither.
