Our Thoughts: Prepare

We are now entering storm season this month. To help prepare, the county is placing special emphasis on disaster preparedness this month, especially for local businesses.

Rockdale Emergency Management Director and Fire Chief Dan Morgan leads a local group of FEMA Corps volunteers who are willing and able to spend time with you and your business to prepare for any emergency.

You might want to put March 8 on your calendars. A "PreparAthon Fair" will be held at 1400 Parker Rd. from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Business owners, employees and families are encouraged to come out to talk with public safety and disaster response representatives and sign up for CodeRED alerts.

Businesses are also asked to conduct a disaster drill on March 25, at 10 a.m., for 15 minutes. Just like being prepared for a fire, business owners should plan for what to do with employees and customers should a tornado, storm or other disaster strike.
