Recently portraits of the three county commissioners were posted in county offices.
We certainly have seen this done in other municipalities around the country, so that's not an issue.
The real issue is the timing. There is no question that we are living in the toughest economic times that most of us can remember, so spending $50 - much less $2,500 - when citizens of the county are having a hard time surviving just doesn't make good practical sense.
Chief of staff Greg Pridgeon told us "that we are way behind the trend; it was long overdue." Mr. Pridgeon, it might have been long overdue in your opinion, but the bottom line is it should have stayed overdue.
We offer this special note to our county commissioners this is not the time to make up long overdue trends; it's the time to be ultra conservative on spending your constituents tax money.
