Our Thoughts: Phoenix Pass

In 2008, Phoenix Pass was established as a grassroots, community-based partnership between First Baptist Church of Conyers and the Rockdale Emergency Relief. The dream of the organizers was to provide a traditional housing program for women and children who have been displaced in the Rockdale County area.

The community quickly adopted the program as its own.

Last week, we shared the good news that Phoenix Pass was created for.

Tracey Yantis and her 16-year-old son have graduated and will soon be in a home that will be their own. The story of Tracey Yantis is inspirational in itself. She has worked two or three jobs at a time, gone back to college and has spent more than 200 hours working with Habitat for Humanity on her new home.

Phoenix Pass and the safety it provides families who are struggling at this time is an inspiration to our community.

To have people like Tracey Yantis a part of our community helps make this a good and caring place to live.

We are grateful for having Phoenix Pass and new homeowners like Tracy and her son in our community.
