Our Thoughts: Panel Decision

We were glad to see the swift and decisive action by the governor and the unanimous decision by the panel appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to decide whether DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis should continue to serve in office while fighting felony indictment for alleged extortion. In the court of law, Ellis is innocent until proven guilty, but the constituents he serves shouldn’t be dragged through the mud while that is sorted out. Our own Rockdale County CEO Richard Oden was one of the three appointed to the panel. He appeared to make a decision not based on race or party but on what best benefits the citizens.
