Conyers police have much to be proud of. Recently, they were awarded the highest accreditation a law enforcement agency can receive - the CALEA International Accreditation. Considered the ‘gold standard' of policing, only 45 agencies in the entire state of Georgia and more than 1,000 world-wide have achieved this distinction. We congratulate them and the team that made this happen.
The remarkable thing about this achievement is the combined team effort of every CPD department and many city departments, as well as the city council, officials and city leadership. This rigorous distinction was years in the making. After losing the state certification in 2010, the CPD could have stopped after regaining the state certification this year. But it was not satisified to only regain the status quo and turned what was a loss into forward momentum to achieve more than before. That is truly the mark of a ‘gold standard' department that Conyers residents can take pride in.
