There are people in the world so hungry that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.
~ Mahatma Gandhi
The citizens of Conyers and Rockdale County have always been more than generous when there has been a need for their generosity.
There is now a need.
The Rockdale Emergency Relief Food Pantry is running dangerously low on food. RER serves more than 3,750 families a year from the food pantry.
We always seem to think of the food pantry around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, but in the summer, we often forget that families in our community who can't go on vacations and who have no money even to buy the basic foods to feed their families are still here.
Hunger in the summer is made even worse by the fact that school is out and the meals that children can count on receiving at school are not available.
If you can spare some food from your pantry or if you are going to the grocery store this weekend would you consider buying an extra bag of groceries - just the basics like soup, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce cereal, jelly. Your extra groceries can be dropped off at 350 Tall Oaks Drive.
We know if you take the time to do this, not only might you be helping one of your neighbors, but you will for sure be feeling a lot better about yourself.
