Next Thursday is a day full of opportunities to talk to your local legislators and meet the people running for office in this year’s elections. 

At 7:30 a.m., the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual legislative breakfast at Rockdale Medical Center’s East Tower classrooms. The cost is $10 for non-Chamber members. Call 770-483-7049 to reserve your seat. The event allows all members of the community to come out meet their legislators and to ask them questions.

Later that evening, The News is partnering with the Rockdale-Newton League of Women Voters to hold a Candidates’ Forum at 6:30 p.m. at the Rockdale Auditorium, 903 Main Street. The Forum features candidates in local contested primaries and non-partisan races that are on the ballot for the May 20 primaries/non partisan elections. The forum will also be streamed live online at rockdalenews.com 

This will be an important election year and we need to make sure that we have good representation for Rockdale County and the federal government. Make sure to educate yourself on the candidates.
