CONYERS - The oratorical competition is coming back to Rockdale County.

The Fall 2015 Oratorical Competition has been expanded to include all Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) middle school students. It will take place Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. at Conyers Middle School. Training for the speech competition will take place at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24 at CMS also. The public is invited to both.

The first oratorical competition was earlier this year on March 28 and was won by Conyers Middle School's Joi Nobles. Nobles won the $500 first place prize for having the most effective, impressive speech. Second place went to Davis Middle's Dexter Holmes, Jr., who won $350. Another Davis Middle student, Chelsea Casteal, took third place and won $150.

The speech competition is presented by Rockdale County Clerk of Courts Ruth Wilson and RCPS. Other sponsors include Lexicon Technologies, Snapping Shoals, Evans Tool and Die and the Rotary Club of Conyers.
