Guinnetta Mixon Tatman

Guinnetta Mixon Tatman, 83, of Blairsville, GA passed away on Monday June 2, 2014 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.

Mrs. Tatman was born on October 13, 1930 in Griffin GA, to the late William Skein Mixon and Mamie Rebecca Pursley Mixon.

Guinnetta received a Masters of Religious Education from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. After a brief career as a Director of Christian Education in the North Georgia Conference, she worked as a teacher of Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies. She was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Blairsville, GA, serving as a lay leader and was active in the United Methodist Women. Guinnetta enjoyed reading and needlecrafts.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Cecil Tatman; a sister, Bettie Sellers; and two brothers, Edward Mixon and George Mixon.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Klase and husband Kenneth of Greensboro, and Cecile Harwood and husband Ian of Conyers, GA; two sons, Lewis W. Tatman of Blairsville, GA, and Robert W. Tatman of Buckhead, Morgan County, GA; a brother, William S. Mixon Jr.; six grandchildren, Johnathan Tatman and wife Jessica, David Fonda and wife Lanay, William Fonda, Christopher Tatman, Marietta Klase, and Carrie Klase; and four great grandchildren, Keegan Tatman, Julianna Tatman, Charlotte Fonda, and Wesley Fonda.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Campground Cemetery in Griffin, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Women, Treasurer, NGUMW 117 Mouey Lane, Eatonton, GA 31024.
