OBIT: Larry Bazemore

Mr. Larry Bazemore, age 70, of Conyers passed away July 30, 2014. He was born in Vidalia, Georgia to Leroy and Madeline Bacon Bazemore. Mr. Bazemore grew up in Darien, Georgia where he enjoyed deer and duck hunting. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gun collecting, buying farm equipment even though he never owned a farm; he enjoyed yard sales and auctions with his best friend Dan W. Taylor and loved the construction and development fields. Mr. Bazemore was primarily a banker in his early career and as president of Long State Bank in Ludawici, Georgia he was instrumental in establishing the counties first federally insured bank. He worked for several others banks during his career and retired from banking as a Special Assets Manager for Hamilton State Bank. Following his banking career Mr. Bazemore went into the construction field working with Gamal Tawfik of GT Architecture and Contractors, Inc., the 5th largest construction company in Georgia and 184th largest construction company in the United States. He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Bazemore, his father-in-law John O. McCart, his niece Kristie D. Hinton and his best friend Dan W. Taylor.

Mr. Bazemore is survived by his wife of 42 years Sheila McCart Bazemore, his son Justin Bazemore of Conyers, his mother Madeline Bazemore of Covington, his mother-in-law Rachel McCart of Oxford, his brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Barbara Bazemore of Palm Coast, Florida his sister-in-law and borther –in-law Linda and David Rada of Oxford, his nephews and nieces: Chris and Lynn Bazemore of Madison, Greg and Stephanie Bazemore of Palm Coast, Florida, Kerry and Debbie Hinton of Covington, Davy Rada of Buford, Jonathan Rada of Oxford and Meghan Rada of Birmingham along with numerous great nieces and nephews, other family and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bazemore will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Chief Mike McHugh officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon until 3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. J.C.
