The Mercy Heart free medical clinic recently appointed a new volunteer director in preparation for its opening in February.
Hilda Maniscalco, a former clinic manager and volunteer at the Conyers Police Department, accepted the position of Volunteer Director with the Mercy Heart Clinic.

The clinic, located on 2796 Georgia, Highway 20 South, will be accepting phone calls on Feb. 8.

Before it starts taking patients, however, the Mercy Heart Clinic will need as many volunteers as are willing to lend a hand - both medical and clerical.

"I am very excited because I am into helping the community," said Maniscalco, whose position is also a volunteer one. "And, this is a fantastic project. It will help people who are in need of health care."

Maniscalco comes to the clinic after volunteering with the Conyers Police Department. Before that she lived on Long Island, New York where she was a manager of a clinic.

Volunteers will have a chance to visit the clinic in an open house on Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. The Mercy Heart Clinic will host a community open house on Feb. 18, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
