Mrs. Nell McCorvey Woods, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 as a result of lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her son, Butch New. She leaves to cherish her memory, Charles E. Woods, husband of 33 years; daughter, Shan New Florence (Scott), Roswell; son, Tim New, Lawrenceville; 6 grandchildren; sister, Ann Persons (Thad), Snellville. Nell was fun-loving and the "life of the party". She never met a stranger and brought joy to all who knew her. In her last days when asked to describe herself, she replied "loving and compassionate". The family will welcome friends at 11 a.m. for visitation with her celebration service at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011; burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens will follow.
