A pedestrian hit and killed on U.S. Highway 278 this morning has been identified as 59-year-old Shirley Ann Reid.

According to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, Reid was crossing the road at U.S. Highway 278 and West Stree in Covington t around 5:30 a.m. when she was struck by a Nissan Titan pickup that was traveling west.

The 56-year-old driver of the truck had the right-of-way, and no charges are pending against him.
