Motorcycle rider flown to hospital after crash on I-20

UPDATE: The injured motorcycle rider was a 36-year-old black female from Lithonia. The rider reportedly swerved to avoid a piece of wood in the road and lost control of the motorcycle, a Kawasaki Ninja, according to a RCSO spokesperson. No other vehicles were reportedly involved.

 

(Jan. 29, 1:54 p.m.) IN BRIEF: A crash involving a motorcycle rider shut down I-20 heading east just before Sigman Road around 1:10 p.m. until about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The female rider was flown by helicopter to an Atlanta area hospital with injuries that were serious but apparently not life threatening, according to a Rockdale County Sheriff's Office spokesperson. Traffic has been cleared and is flowing again. Check back later for more information.
