More Democratic than Republican primary voters in first three days of early voting

Nearly 500 ballots, or about 1 percent of active registered voters in Rockdale, have been cast in the first three days of in-person early voting and absentee mail voting.

Out of the 354 in-person early voters, 193 (54.5 percent) have voted in the Democratic primary and 161 (45.5 percent) have voted in the Republican primary. There were no nonpartisan races only ballots cast.

Out of the 143 mail ballots, 85 (59.4 percent) were in the Democratic primary and 58 (40.6 percent) were in the Republican primary. There were no nonpartisan races only mail in ballots.

The precinct with the highest turnout so far has been The Lakes district with 1.66 percent. The precinct with the lowest turnout has been Bethel with 0.59 percent.

In Georgia, any registered voter can participate in either primary or can choose to vote only in the nonpartisan elections for May 20.

In-person early voting takes place at 1400 Parker Road and runs until May 16. The regular hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and extended hours will be held Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and May 14-16, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Absentee voting by mail started April 5 and also runs until May 16.
