Missing man's body found in Lake Jackson
No signs of foul play

(Covington, GA) - The body of a 56-year-old Newton County man last seen in February was found in Lake Jackson over the weekend.

Ralph Michael Garland's body was reportedly found in Lake Jackson, which borders Newton County on the southern end, on Saturday, March 7, during a search organized by his family, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

The body was found within sight of his home.

"At this time there does not appear to be any signs of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled for sometime this week at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab," stated a press release from the NCSO.

"The Newton County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation and send condolences to Mr. Garland's family at this time."

Ralph Michael Garland had been reported missing by family members on March 3. He was last seen in the area of the Stewart Community off of Hwy 36 in Covington on Friday, Feb. 27, at approximately 9 p.m. He had a medical condition that may have caused him to have a staggered walk and a hump in his back. He did take medications for medical conditions.
