Residents and motorists traveling Milstead Avenue (from Main Street north to Georgia Highway 20), Northside Drive and Shipp Circle should expect delays in the coming weeks as resurfacing work begins.

Pittman Construction Company will begin milling and resurfacing these roads as part of a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)-funded project. Motorists should expect traffic delays and one-lane closures in the coming weeks. Milling of the roads will begin on Tuesday, October 13 at 8 a.m. and take place weekdays until 4 p.m. Weather permitting, work is not expected to last more than two weeks.

The milling and resurfacing portions of this SPLOST project are part of the overall $728,498 bid Pittman submitted for transportation improvements along the Milstead Avenue corridor. Other improvements include new sidewalks from Turner Street at Milstead Avenue north to the Georgia Federal Credit Union, new sidewalk on Northside Drive to North Hicks Circle and a fountain and gateway signage at the realigned intersection of Northside Drive and Milstead Avenue.
