Each fall Honey Creek Elementary School’s PE teacher, Jane Van Heest and assistant Tami Boggus, sponsor a Marathon in a Month Club. The elementary students in the club meet on the track at 7:05 each morning for the six weeks between fall break and the Thanksgiving holidays to run a mile. On Nov. 19, 64 students completed the required 26.2 miles – the distance of a full marathon. Two students, Nicholas Boucher and Tommy Addie completed two full marathons in the six week period. The club motto is: "26.2 miles, one mile at a time".
