A Covington man was killed in an early-morning motorcycle and vehicle accident Oct. 27 in Conyers on the Sigman Road entrance way to Interstate 20.

The victim, 26-year-old Stephen Wurst, was traveling south on Sigman Road on motorcycle a little after 5 a.m. while a tan Toyota Camry, driven by Conyers resident Judith Lorier, headed north on Sigman Road, according to an incomplete Rockdale County Sheriff's Office report.

As the Camry turned towards the on-ramp to the Interstate, it turned left in front of the motorcycle, "causing the driver to lay the motorcycle down." The motorcycle slid one way and the motorcycle driver was thrown toward the entrance of the interstate and was struck and run over by the Camry.

The victim was declared deceased on the scene around 6:02 a.m. by the Rockdale County Deputy Coroner.

Wust, an Eagle Scout and member of the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association, graduated from Heritage High School in 2001.

The visitation was held Thursday evening with lines reportedly stretching out the door and the funeral was held Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Boy Scout Troop 410 Emergency Fund C/O St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2621 GA Highway 20 SE, Conyers, GA 30013.
