Lookout canceled for missing elderly male

UPDATE:  The missing elderly male, Hugh Pearson, was located safe and sound in Athens around noon Wednesday by Athens-Clarke County Police. He was reportedly in the maroon Ford Taurus and was slightly disoriented. He was checked out by emergency medical responders and will be released to family members. according to a spokesperson. The lookout alert has been canceled.

A lookout alert was issued for an elderly man with dementia who has been missing since 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hugh Doyle Pearson, 81, left the residence at 1940 Paces Landing Court around 2:30 p.m. wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds. Pearson has been living at the residence since being diagnosed with dementia. 

His vehicle was a maroon 1999 Ford Taurus with a Georgia license plate of ATS3831. It was unknown where he was heading but Pearson does have ties to Morrow, Ga.
