Conyers First Baptist is supporting the following organizations and asking Living Christmas Tree attendees to donate the following items in lieu of ticket fees:

Phoenix Pass (transitional housing for homeless women/children): Laundry products

For a breathtaking Christmas spectacle, look no farther than First Baptist Conyers' 13th annual Living Christmas Tree musical performance, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 13 and 14 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at 2100 Ga. Highway 138.

This year's performance, themed "When Hope Was Born," is sure to distinguish itself from other years, said Music Minister John Link.

"If compared to the other 12 years, the word (to describe it) would be ‘different," said Link, who has directed nine of the Living Christmas Tree performances.

For one thing, this year's performance will focus on the music, without dramatic skits in between the numbers. Numbers include traditional Christmas carols and hymns as well as original Christmas pieces.

"I think the music is so strong, it stands on its own."

This year's tree will also be brighter and grander, with 1,065 new, twinkling multi-colored LED lights on the 30-foot "tree" structure where the 85-voice chorus stands, looking like angelic ornaments on an oversized tree.

A 45-piece orchestra accompanies them as all send their heavenly sounds soaring.

The performance is free, but Conyers First Baptist is also continuing its support for local non-profit agencies by asking audience members to bring donations of canned foods, children's toothbrushes/toothpaste, laundry detergent or laundry products, and winter accessories for children including gloves, socks, scarves and hats.

"We just wanted to involve the community as much as we could this year," said Link.

While the performance is free, reservations are requested, as the popular shows fill up.
