Letter: Manifold Greatness

Dear Editor: I am looking forward to seeing “Manifold Greatness,” the prestigious national exhibit on the King James Version of the Bible at the Nancy Guinn Library starting May 29.

As the former library director, I wanted to let people know about a person, a volunteer, who helped so much with the grant proposal that we would not have gotten the exhibit without her: the late Mrs. Mary Myers.

She personally knew all of the biblical scholars, collectors and experts who are mentioned in the grant, several of whom agreed to do a program in conjunction with the exhibit.

She directed me to the right people to make this exhibit and grant proposal successful. She was such a pleasure with whom to work.

Mrs. Myers was a Library Trustee for nine years, representing the Conyers Civic League, and she taught at the Conyers Middle School through to retirement.

She shared a passion for the Bible with her husband, the Reverend Al Myers, who led the Conyers Presbyterian Church for many years and is active in the Rockdale ministerial community. I was saddened to hear of her passing this past Thanksgiving.

She was a very fine, much-loved, soft-spoken person. I know she is missed by many.

I wanted to recognize Mrs. Myers’ important contributions to help bring this fine exhibit to the Rockdale community.

I am very sorry she will not be here to enjoy it with us.
