Heritage girls' tennis reached the semifinals before falling to Starr's Mill Saturday in the annual Peachtree City tennis tournament, which hosted boys and girls teams from about 15 schools around the state and metro-Atlanta area.
Heritage boys tennis lost in the first round Friday against Westlake and lost in the consolation bracket to Newnan in a closer match.
"They are doing really well," said Coach Brian Smith of the HHS girls tennis team. "We had three seniors coming off singles last year. Coming in we were like we're going to have to rebuild our team. A lot of them went to work over the summer and came out and we haven't missed a beat."
Heritage won against crosstown rival Rockdale County High School last week and their first region match against Apalachee as well.
"We're off to a good start. We're still trying to figure out who's going to fit in where but we're really impressed with how they're working. There’s a good chemistry to the group."
The girls team plays at Eagles Landing Christian Academy today, hosts region team Cedar Shoals at Heritage on Tuesday, and travels to Gainesville for another region match on Thursday.
