Rockdale Relay for Life kicked off its 2011 campaign with a reception at the Rockdale Career Academy on Jan. 18 that brought together team captains, recognized last year’s accomplishments, and announced the goals for this year’s campaign.

Last year the Relay raised $157,143.00 from 54 teams supported by 648 participants.

This year the goal set by Rockdale Relay For Life Chair Lisa Cook and American Cancer Society Income Manager Tiffany Dollar is $160,000 from 60 teams comprised of 650 participants.

Sponsors for the 2011 Relay include  Acuity Brands Lighting, United Community Bank, Pippins BBQ, and Fancy A Nibble. Kick-off catering was provided by Pippins Barbeque in Conyers.

The next team captains meeting will be Feb. 24, 6 p.m. -  7 p.m. at the Rockdale Career Academy.
