Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful was recently recognized for exemplary performance with the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation’s new Governor’s Circle Award.

Gov. Nathan Deal presented the award to KCRB on Dec. 9 on the steps of the Georgia Capitol during the Keep Georgia Beautiful Fall Conference.

“We’re proud of our partnership with the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, and of the impact its affiliates are making in communities across the state,” said Gretchen Corbin, Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs, a major partner of Keep Georgia Beautiful.
“They are instrumental in helping create places that attract investment and enhance the quality of life for Georgia’s citizens and existing businesses.”

The Governor’s Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the state nonprofit to reduce litter, minimize waste and beautify and improve their local communities. In qualifying for a Governor’s Circle Award, KCRB met Keep Georgia Beautiful’s standards of excellence by conducting an annual Litter Index, calculating the affiliate’s cost/benefit ratio and engaging volunteers to take greater responsibility for their community environment. In addition, award recipients must conduct activities in three core focus areas of litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification/community improvement.

Each year, KCRB continues to enhance the health, safety and economic viability of Conyers and Rockdale County by empowering hundreds of local volunteers to take greater responsibility for litter prevention and cleanup, recycling, waste minimization and all forms of beautification and community improvement.
