Mr. John W. (Billy) Whatley, Sr., age 82 of Jackson, GA died Monday, April 11, 2011.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly Whatley, Jackson, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Thomas, Jackson, GA, Bill and Leigh Whatley, Jr., Snellville; daughter, Junie Wheeler, Conyers; grandchildren, Shannon and Michael Powell, Casey and Britni Wheeler, Blake Thomas, Rhett Whatley, Lance Whatley, Lindsey Whatley, Cari Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Axl and Calli June; brothers, Nash Whatley, Fleming Whatley; sister, June Whatley McEwen.  Mr. Whatley was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and the Korean War.  He was retired from Local 613 and was a Mason.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Mark Powell officiating; interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson, GA.  Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.  Scot Ward Funeral Services at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA 30012, 770-483-7216.
