Mr. James Marcus Kelly, Jr., age 69 of Conyers, died October 2, 2010 at home with his family. He was born April 25, 1941, in Spartanburg, S.C. Jim was in ROTC throughout his college career and a 1964 graduate of Clemson A & M College (Clemson University) in South Carolina. Jim began his work as a civil engineer in June 1964 for the United States Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division where he was employed for 33 years. He became active duty military in 1964 as First Lieutenant United States Army Special Forces Green Beret. Jim was a former ammunition instructor relieved from active duty in September 1966. Jim was a deacon of his church, Browns Bridge Christian Church in Covington, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his late father, James Marcus Kelly, Sr. and late mother, Mary Emma Lands Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Robyn Crzan K. Kelly; daughter, Erin Danielle Kelly Youngblood and her spouse Doug Youngblood of Conyers; daughter, Rachael Corinne Kelly and her husband Justin Kelly of Norcross; son, Byron James Kelly and his wife, Natalia Kelly of Dunwoody; grandsons: Douglas Jack Youngblood, Jackson Davis Kelly, Lands Cooper Kelly and James Brooks Kelly; his brother, Raymond Lands Kelly of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Scot Ward’s Harry White Chapel with Rev. Billy Rollins and Rev. Ron Watson officiating.
