Irwin Bridge, on the north part of Irwin Bridge Road, will be closed for a year starting in mid-September as the bridge is replaced and raised.
The bridge was flooded by the Yellow River in 2009 but plans were already in place to replace the bridge before then, according to the county’s Transportation Department.
The approximately $1.7 million cost of construction will be paid by the Georgia Department of Transportation while the county paid for the cost of right of way acquisition and planning.
