IN BRIEF: The Rockdale Board of Education named Billy Johnson interim superintendent at a called meeting Tuesday morning. Johnson will begin Monday, June 4.

He was also the superintendent of Laurens County Schools for ten years and has served as an interim superintendent three times. Currently, Johnson is a contracted consultant with the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA).

“I look forward to serving as Rockdale County Public Schools’ interim superintendent as the Board completes its superintendent search,” said Johnson in a released statement. “I have lived in Rockdale County since 1983 and due to rezoning over the years; I have had a child graduate from each high school.  I am excited to be able to give back to my community by serving in this capacity.”
