Five prison inmates, including Covington resident Dante Ray Myles, have been charged with the murder of fellow inmate Laderick Cornellius Chappel at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Ga.
Myles, 27, was charged with armed robbery and murder along with four other Georgia inmates after allegedly throwing Chappel off the second floor of the prison dormitory.
Chappel, 33, was from Albany, Ga.
"The inmates were charged as a result of an investigation conducted by agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Milledgeville Regional Office and prison officials early Friday morning after Chappel was thrown to his death from the second floor of a prison dormitory. An autopsy was conducted Friday morning at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur indicating Chappel died from the blunt force trauma caused by the fall," according to a press release.
The other four inmates charged were:
William Woodrow Wells, 21, Louisville, Ga.
Niko Lamar Swann, 23, Atlanta, Ga.
Demarcus D. Crew, 19, Elberton, Ga.
Justin O'Neal Clinkscales, 27, Hartwell, Ga.
