World War II veterans from Georgia and their guardians flew into Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 22,  for the eighth trip from Honor Flight Conyers and the first trip of 2014.

The veterans and their guardians met in the early morning hours from the American Legion Post 77 for escorted transportation to Hartsfield-Jackson International to catch their flight.

Honor Flight Conyers provides day-trips for WWII veterans throughout Georgia free of charge to visit monuments and memorials such as the WWII Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Guardians who accompany each veteran must pay their own way.

More trips are planned for 2014, including in May.
