More than 25 World War II veterans from Georgia and their guardians, along with media guests from local NBC and CBS television stations, are flying into Washington DC today for the seventh trip from Honor Flight Conyers.
The veterans, some as old as 101 years, and their guardians met in the early morning hours from the American Legion Post 77 for escorted transportation to Hartsfield-Jackson International to catch their flight.
Honor Flight Conyers provides day-trips for WWII veterans throughout Georgia free of charge to visit monuments and memorials such as the WWII Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Guardians who accompany each veteran must pay their own way.
This is the last flight for 2013, but more trips are planned for April and May 2014.
