World War II veterans from around the state and their guardians gathered in the wee morning hours at American Legion Post 77 in Conyers for the fifth trip ever of Honor Flight Conyers and the group's first trip of 2013. From there, they departed in an escorted parade of busses to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport where they'll fly to Washington D.C. for the day to visit the World War II memorial and other memorials and sites.
Honor Flight Conyers provides day-trips for WWII veterans throughout Georgia free of charge to visit monuments and memorials such as the WWII Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Guardians who accompany each veteran must pay their own way.
