…Gene Wilson, the police chief of Conyers, who, after realizing that he had illegally parked in a handicapped zone, issued himself a ticket, paid the hefty fine and publicly apologized.
It’s this type of action that continues to make us believe we have the right man for this very tough job. We have nothing but the highest respect for our new police chief.
And Also To...
...the Mayor, city Council and staff of the city of Conyers who managed to cut the expenditures without any layoffs, furloughs or dipping into reserves to balance the proposed 2010-2011 city budget.
The most remarkable thing is, despite declining tax revenue from decreasing property values, the proposed budget also would not require a tax increase — as so many other governments and agencies find themselves having to do. Through tight spending, foresight, and proactive seeking of grant money and other opportunities, the city of Conyers managed to cut enough corners and make things stretch during what may be one of the worst economic downturns in recent history.
This shows the people of Conyers that at this time we have the right people in leadership roles in the City of Conyers.
