Great American Cleanup on April 7

It’s that time once again for the 2012 Great American Cleanup. Volunteers are needed and families, individuals, businesses, schools and other groups are encouraged to participate.

The cleanup is Saturday, April 7 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Registration forms can be found at www.rockdalecounty.org and are due by April 4.

The day-long event, which the Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) Board co-hosts with the city of Conyers and Rockdale County, will be held at Pine Log Park, 1500 Highway 138, Conyers. Volunteers are encouraged to come to the park’s pavilion to check in beginning at 8 am, pick up their cleaning supplies and further instruction.

Some main goals of the event are to pick up garbage, tires and other debris around the community, teach young people about the importance of litter prevention and recycle as much of the materials collected as possible.

All cleaning supplies – garbage bags, gloves and brightly-colored safety vests – will be provided to volunteers.
About 150-200 volunteers are expected to take part this year giving up a Saturday to ensure Rockdale is a clean place to live. As a thank you for participating, they will receive a T-shirt, be treated to a free lunch and entered into a raffle.
